Isaiah 44:6 "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: `I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.
God says there is no other besides Him, and the only God there is is "the first and the last."
However Jesus claims of Himself,
Revelation 1:17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,
and
Revelation 22:13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
Apparently Jesus had the Isaiah passage in mind. So would He not also be making the same claim we find in Isaiah 44:6?
Another issue is, if Jesus is NOT making the same claim, what claim is He making, by appropriating the title of the only "God" upon Himself?
