In a recent discussion with a friend they said "The scripture is not the foundation of Truth QS but the church is"? I am curious as to how many people support this statement. Why or why not?

In addition he states the following....
"my view is that what the Majority says goes"
"I look at what the Church has said for 2,000 years and the earliest record carries the most weight and whatever group speaks the samething or similar is what goes"
I respect him for being honest about his view based on the fact I believe many others feel same way but wont admit to it. Any thoughts on these statements?

If the Majority ruled, then Jesus couldn't be considered Lord.
Shoot, black folk would still be lucky to have Sunday meetin' in the hen house...that is in between fetchin master a glass of water

I agree with your friend...tradition RULES with today's believer, the scriptures [and the way the believers thought in the 1st century] play very little into what the believer of today thinks and does. If believers really went by the scriptures, we wouldn't have such unbiblical thoughts as speaking in "tongues" [languages], having to be baptized to be saved [never mind Ephesians 2:5,9-10], "tongues" being the initial sign of the Holy Spirit, satan & lucifer, tithing...(I could go on, but you get the point)

We all have traditions. There are the Traditions of God and there are Traditions of man.
And every Tradition of man isn't wrong. Traditions also dictate the how and way to interprete scripture.
How will one know what to take from the Old Testement? How will one know these things? Should we observe the 7 Holy Holidays of God in the Old Testement? Should we observe all of the 10 commandments in the Old Testement or should we leave them alone or pick and choose which ones we want to observe?
How will we understand the New Testement? Why can't we believe in Tongues? Why can't we believe that Tongues are for today? Why can't we believe that Miracles are for today?
Why can't we still give holy kisses like some of our christian brothers do accross seas?
Why can't we wash eachothers feet? Why can we?
Who wrote the book of Mathew? I don't see his name in that book? So how do we know who wrote it? How do we know we can trust it?
Traditions have its place. No matter what one does there will always be traditions.
Try nocking one down and watch you replace it with another tradition.
