This is where you are wrong. Because while you try and only put up a bible verse to serve as your deffinition, the Trinitarian can do the same thing.
I've been waiting for a trinitarian to do just that.
Cute. The point is that the Oneness heads and the Trinitarian heads both share the same passages, and then apply interpretation processes to them.
You know this as well as I do. Your doctrine depends on a system of interpretation just as the Trinitarian doctrine does. That is why I have been saying that it is impossible to have a debate that goes...
Trinitarian: 1 Corinthians 8:4-6 “Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.”
Oneness:1 Corinthians 8:4-6 “Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.”
Trinitarian:Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”
Oneness: Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”
Trinitarian: Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”
Oneness: Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”
Trinitarian: Isaiah 46:9 “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me.”
Oneness: Isaiah 46:9 “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me.”
Trinitarian:Psalms 110:1 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet."
Oneness: Psalms 110:1 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet."
Trinitarian:Isaiah 48:16 "Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord GOD has sent Me, and His Spirit."
Oneness: Isaiah 48:16 "Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord GOD has sent Me, and His Spirit."
Trinitarian: Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;
Oneness: Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;
WOW! What stimulating conversation! This could go on forever. So it appears that more than just throwing bible verses at each other, a discussion of the interpretation process is actually needed. Both camps believe these passages put together fit together the way they just happen to believe. That piecing together is an extrabiblical effort, on your part just as much as ours.
peace.
